Cherokee County 4-H participates in many activities that require us to raise funds from time to time. Annually, we host our 4-H Plant Sale, which supports our overall 4-H program. Pro Garden Series Classes 2026


Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers of Cherokee County will be offering a series of Pro Gardening classes beginning January 14. The classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Extension Education Annex  for participants who wants to learn about gardening but are not quite ready to become an Extension Master Gardener.

In partnership with Adam Farms Processing and North Carolina Hunters for the Hungry, the Extension Venison Donation Program started September 2024 in Cherokee County in an effort to decrease food insecurity and support local food pantries.

CPR, AED and First Aid Training in Cherokee County


The North Carolina Agromedicine Institute will be offering a free CPR, AED, and First Aid Training in Cherokee County Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Extension Education Annex in Murphy, NC. Training will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 noon.

It appears that many PC users in our community are not taking the transition to the Windows 11 operating system seriously. Unfortunately, the consequences of declining updates can be severe. Microsoft support for Windows 10 has officially ended, although a fee based plan of limited scope has been offered due to public demand.

Come check out one of our great 4-H Clubs  and get enroll in one of our great 4-H clubs here in Cherokee County. Youth do not have to own animals, know how to tie fly’s, or know how to cook in order to join our clubs but youth should be interested in learning about the focus areas of the clubs.

Sew Much Fun Sew Club News


The Sew Much Fun Sew Club, ECA Murphy, would like to Thank all the Volunteers for making our 1st Sew For A Cause, Reach Cherokee County Tote Project a Huge Success. We made (51) canvas tote bags. We will be delivering these totes the 1st week of December 2025. The Extension Community Association Sit & Knit Club contributes handmade items each year for those in need. This year the library is also hosting a little food pantry in their lobby.Can I donate handmade warm items to the tree?The answer is YES! Please drop the items off at the Library Circulation Desk and a LIbrarian will display them on the tree for you!Can I donate non-perishable food at the Murphy Library?The answer is YES! Please drop small quantities of non-perishable foods off in the lobby of the Murphy Public Library.Who can take items from the Giving Tree?Anyone in need of warm items or food is welcome to take what they need. We ask that you only take the food and warm items that you can use so that others in need can get access.The Andrews Public Library Giving Tree is coming soon!
