We would like to wish all of our Buncombe County 4-H families a Happy New Year! We invite you to make exploring 4-H one of your New Year's resolutions! Buncombe County 4-H has 5 different 4-H Clubs, along with other workshops, projects, summer camps and more for youth to "Learn by Doing" in 2026! 

2026 WNC Dairy Steer Project

Entering the 12th year of the program, we are now accepting applications for the 2026 WNC Dairy Steer Project! The WNC Dairy Beef Feeder Steer Program is designed to introduce youth to livestock showing, feeding, and care. Participants in the program will be provided a dairy calf that they will feed and care for at their home or another approved facility from March through the 2026 Mountain State Fair when the calves are sold. It's Electric! 4-H Electric Project Workshop Series

Join us to learn about the magic of electricity! In this four part workshop series, youth will learn about electricity, circuits, soldering, careers in the electric industry and more!

2026 NC 4-H Scholarships

Are you a 4-H’er who will be entering college in the fall 2026 semester? If so – you are eligible to apply for 4-H Scholarships. Scholarships are for any graduating High School Senior in 2026. There are lots of 4-H Scholarships to apply for. A complete list of scholarships, including detailed information on each is included in the 4-H Scholarship Guidelines which can be found at the link below.

The Buncombe Clover: A 2025 4-H Year in Review

As 2025 draws to a close, we take a look back on some of the highlights for Buncombe County 4-H. The purpose of 4-H is to provide youth with exciting learning opportunities to help develop them into positive members of our community and in 2025, Buncombe County 4-H reached over 2,000 youth through our hands-on school enrichment programs, clubs, projects and events!

2026 NC 4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference

This event aims to provide 4-H volunteers with valuable opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge through workshops and activities designed to foster positive learning experiences for young people across the state. With over 200 participants each year, this conference empowers volunteers and those working with young people to make a lasting impact in their 4-H programs and communities. The weekend kicks off on Friday with dinner and engaging group activities, followed by a full Saturday schedule featuring educational workshops, district meetings, and award recognition. This is a great opportunity to learn more about being a 4-H volunteer in 2026!

Buncombe County 4-H Needs You!

Buncombe County 4-H is currently seeking passionate adult volunteers to assist in implementing the following 4-H programs: STEM & Electricity, Cooking and Sewing classes. The time commitment is flexible with your schedule and you will be making a lasting positive impact on kids in your community!

Volunteers are the key to success in the Buncombe County 4-H program. Whether you’re interested in starting a club and becoming a club leader or just have a few hours to invest, we have challenging and fun jobs for adults who want to make a difference in the lives of Buncombe County youth!
