Versatile Pantry

The Versatile Pantry curriculum teaches participants to identify the benefits of stocking a few staples, find strategies for creating a stocked pantry, and discusses a variety of meals that can be prepared from a set of staple ingredients.  Wear Red February 6th

February makes us think of the color red – red hearts for Valentine’s Day and National Wear Red Day. National Wear Red Day is Friday, February 6 and the American Heart Association wants you to wear red to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease. Chances are that you know someone who has been directly affected by heart disease and stroke because cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 1 in 3 women, which is about one woman every 80 seconds. Heart disease is largely preventable. Contact your Extension Office to find out how to improve your heart health this February.

Ready to explore the powerful world of plant-based eating? Join us in demystifying what it means to eat plant-based, understanding the why moving toward a more plant-forward diet can be beneficial for your health, and learn how to navigate common barriers. 4-H ECA Valentine's Event

4-H and the Extension Community Association (ECA) members are joining forces for a Valentine’s Fun Day!! We will be doing a community service project, fun crafts and hosting a live food demonstration!! Join us Friday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Person County Extension Office. Is Protein Okay for My Heart

Our bodies need protein to be healthy and strong, but not all proteins are equal. Join us as we celebrate Heart Health Month while focusing on the proteins in our diet. We can eat protein and still be heart healthy. Come and learn how to make healthier protein choices. Our February Lunch N' Learn will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 12:00pm the Person County Office Building, and includes a healthy, delicious lunch. Registration is $5 and is due by the Friday before. 

Get the Spark in Person!

In collaboration with NC Humanities, the Person County Museum of History is thrilled to announce it will host the traveling exhibit Spark! Places of Innovation. In addition to the Smithsonian designed exhibit, PCMH will develop a companion exhibit “Igniting the Spark: Innovation and Invention in Person County. The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) members will be going on a field trip to tour the exhibit on Wednesday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. RSVP to Jennifer at the Extension Office at 336-599-1195.

Sweet Heart Health

Join us for a delicious morning celebrating American Heart Month, exploring the surprising health benefits of dark chocolate and how it can fit into a heart-healthy lifestyle. Who know taking care of your heart could taste so good? This “Sweet Heart Health” workshop focusing on chocolate and wellness will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 10:45 a.m. at the Person County Senior Center. Learn about flavonoids how they help lower blood pressure, receive tips on portion control, and reading nutrition labels.

We're now accepting vendors for the ECA Spring Artisan & Craft Market, scheduled for Saturday, March 21 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Whether you sell unique products, delicious food, or offer exciting services, we want to bring your business to a whole new audience!! A vendor spot costs $40 and you get one (6-8ft) vendor table and two chairs are provided. Electrical access can be provided to some upon request. Register online at go.ncsu.edu/marketspot

Valentine's 5K Trail Day

Celebrate Valentine's with a 5K Trail Day on Saturday, February 14 at 10:00am. Run or walk the winter woods and pasture trails on The Land at Hawkins Loop, a spacious, family-owned 63-acre farm. Two laps will take you through old-growth forest, along the stream, past classic North Carolina Piedmont tobacco barns, around the pond, and across the finish line in front of the goat pen. 20% of proceeds will be donated to the Roxboro Community School Cross Country program. PCC Marketing Summit 2026

Join the Piedmont Community College Small Business Center Marketing Summit for a one-day event on Monday, February 23 from 9:00am - 3:00pm, focused on smart, practical marketing strategies for small businesses. Heart That Connects Us

The Person Family Medical Center will be collaborating with Person County Senior Center hosting a National Heart Health event on Wednesday, February 25 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. Dr. Nasrat, Medical Director at PFMC will speaking about heart health and free blood pressure checks will be offered. There will also be door prizes, food, games, and a variety of other vendor booth organizations on site providing information and resources. It is free to attend so be sure to stop by. 

Health & Wellness Fair

The Roxboro Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is hosting a special Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Piedmont Community College, Building S, Room 100. This family-friendly event will feature vendors, wellness resources, and a blood donation opportunity. Please save the date, share with your networks, and stay tuned for additional updates as we get closer to the event. Be sure to check this event out and get some good resources.
