The FCS Department in Guilford County Cooperative Extension is now conducting our 2026 Community Needs Assessment! Please fill out the linked below on behalf of your household or community organization. This assessment will allow us to learn how to adapt to the needs of our stakeholders and community members. Your participation is greatly appreciated!
 
Developing a Household Food Budget
We will be collecting new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and scarves and new socks and disposable packs of hand warmers. We will be putting these items outside the building to accompany our blessing box for members of the community to take what they need.

Celebrate National Nutrition Month and "Discover the Power of Nutrition" by learning how to choose healthful foods from all food groups, alternate your food choices for a variety of nutrients, and avoid fad diets that promote unnecessary restrictions. Learn cooking and meal preparation skills that work with the resources you have.

Family Night Out: Soap Making

In this session, we will be teaching folks how to craft a nice melt-and-pour soap. Whether you want to make soap for the house or a gift, come out and enjoy the process of making your own soap as a family.

2026 Canning Classes
2026 canning classes are open for registration. Come learn the art of preserving foods through canning. As a participant you'll learn the process and the food safety steps to can food safely through an engaging hands on class at the Extension Center. Go ahead and claim your seat in a class before they fill up.

Free Little Library: Let's Read!
We’ve launched our seasonal Free Little Library inside the Cooperative Extension Office to share the love of reading and learning. Come and check out some of the books that others have donated, or donate some of the books that overflow from your library.
Clothing Closet
The Guilford County Center has established a clothing closet to compliment our blessing box this winter. Donate or take gently used coats, hats, gloves, and scars. If donating socks or packs of handwarmers, they have to to be new.
Blessing Box
Our blessing box is going strong. This is a great way for community members to donate or take food and hygiene items as they need to. You are welcome to take from and give to this blessing box.

Parks and Recreation: Trotter Active Adult Center
The mission of Trotter Active Adult Center is to provide diverse, year-round programs, activities and services that meet the physical, social, mental and cultural needs of active adults in Greensboro and Guilford County. Some of the features are a fitness room, computer lab, gymnasium, and many awesome classes. It's also located adjacent to Hester Park.
