Flying High with Ag Drones

This workshop explores how UAVs are transforming modern agriculture—from a once “high-tech hobby” into essential farm equipment. Drones are highly versatile tools, capable of applying herbicides for targeted weed control, spreading seed across pastures, and much more. Participants will also learn what it takes to become a licensed UAV operator.

Forestry

Calling All 4-H Youth!
Join our Presentation Workshops on March 26 and April 23 to build confidence and practice public speaking. Youth will prepare for County Activity Day on May 7, which serves as a dress rehearsal for District Activity Day. This is a great opportunity to gain skills, share your talents, and have fun while learning!

Halifax County 4-H is offering week-long summer day camps for youth ages 6–14 at the 4-H Rural Life Center. Each week features a fun theme including HERO, Olympic, Science, Art, Around the World, Chef, and Aquatic Camps, with hands-on activities, crafts, games, and field trips led by trained staff.

Do you need food safety training to prepare for the Food Safety Managers certification exam. Halifax & Northampton Counties have partnered to offer 4 training sessions:

May 11-12, 2026 Halifax County

August 10-11, 2026 Northampton County

November 16-17, 2026 Halifax County

Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act Seeking Participants!

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a 2014 federal law designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market. It strengthens the nation's public workforce system, connects businesses with skilled workers, and aids individuals with barriers to employment. The Halifax Program is currently accepting new participants ages 16-24 that are out of school.  This program targets youth offenders but is open to all at risk youth. New Fees for Soil Samples

The NCDA C&S Agronomic Division has announced a sample fee increase to go into effect one March 3, 2026. Also, there are new fillable, sample submission forms for plant tissue, waste & compost, solutions and soillesss media.  Please discard any old forms and begin using these submission forms on March 2.
