Build Healthy Meal Habits

Eat Real Food

Learn cooking and meal preparation skills that work with the resources you have. Join us on Tuesday, March 17 at 12:00p.m. for this in-person workshop to celebrate National Nutrition Month. Cost is $5 and is due the Friday before.

Do Some Spring Shopping

Join us on Saturday, March 21 from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. for the Extension Community Association (ECA) Craft & Artisan Market at the Person County Office Building Auditorium at 304 South Morgan Street Roxboro, NC 27573. Come and help support local crafters and artisans by purchasing some of their items. We still have a few vendor spots available. Register online at go.ncsu.edu/marketspot Proceeds from the vendor spots go to ECA community service projects.

ECA's Spring Fling

All Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) members are invited to a Spring Fling on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:00a.m. in the Person County Auditorium as we relax and celebrate all of ECA's hard work over the past year. All ECA members are encouraged to bring a friend to recruit into ECA or just join us for the day. Call 336-599-1195 to RSVP and choose your meal selection. Cost is $10 and can be paid in cash or check made payable to Person County ECA.

Learn to Hack Your Snacks


Learn how to “Hack Your Snack” by making smarter choices about the snacks you eat. Learn how to make healthy, homemade snacks and learn tips for saving time when buying and preparing healthy snacks. Join us on Monday, March 30 at 1:00p.m. at the South Granville Public Library at 1550 S. Campus Dr. in Creedmoor for this free workshop. Snacks and giveaways will be available.

Is Protein Okay for My Heart

Learn how to eat healthy while dining out. Participants will learn the pros and cons of restaurant meals, how to select healthier fast food options, and identify techniques and terminology for planning healthy meals at restaurants. Join us on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00p.m. for our “Eating Healthier While Dining Out” workshop at the Richard H. Thornton Public Library located at 210 Main Street in Oxford. This workshop is free to attend.

Check Out the New Center

The Granville Health System would like to invite everyone to join them for a Ribbon Cutting & Open House at the new Granville Health System Endoscopy Center on Thursday, March 5 from 5:00p.m. – 6:30p.m at 625 Lewis Street in Oxford, NC. Guests are welcome to tour the new facility, meet members of their care team, and enjoy light refreshments as they celebrate this important milestone. They look forward to sharing how this space enhances their ability to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

Thanks for Your Service

The Granville County Veterans Appreciation Event is to say “thank you” to all those who have served our country. This year’s event will mark America’s 250 as it commemorates the sacrifices made by these heroes and how their service made it possible to reach this celebratory mark. Join them at Northern Granville Middle School on Saturday, March 7 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Refreshments will follow the program, and the entire event is free.

Business After Hours

The Person County Museum of History has rescheduled their Business After Hours for Thursday, March 12 from 5:30p.m. - 7:00p.m. They are excited that they  will have the Smithsonian exhibit, Spark! Places of Innovation for an extended period of time. Our ECA volunteers recently visited this exhibit and we highly recommend you check it out before it leaves.

NC Med Assist is holding a Mobile Free Pharmacy event on Friday, March 13 from 9:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. at Vance-Granville Community College. Take home free over the counter medicine, including allergy, cough and cold, pain relief, vitamins, children's medicine, and more! Ambulance Chase 5K/10K

Join the Granville Health System for the 12th Annual Granville Ambulance Chase & Food Truck Rodeo on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. in Downtown Oxford—a fun-filled day for the whole family! The event features a 10K, 5K, Fun Run, 1-Mile Family Walk, and Kids Dash, plus a Food Truck Rodeo and live music by Trippin’ Breakers from 12:00p.m. - 2:00p.m. Whether you’re a serious runner or just in it for the food and fun, there’s something for everyone.
