4-H & ECA Spring Gathering

Join 4-H & ECA for a Spring Gathering with intergenerational fun for both youth and adults! We’re bringing the community together for a day of hands-on workshops and seasonal cheer on Tuesday, April 7 from 1pm - 4pm at the Person County Office Building, located at 304 South Morgan Street in Roxboro. We will have baking activities, crafts, games, and a community outreach project. RSVP online with our 4-H ECA Spring Gathering Form.

 Don't Get Bent Out of Shape

Identifying personal stressors can help you to focus stress management strategies. Managing stress involves both changing behaviors that lead to stress and accepting circumstances that you cannot change. Annual North Central District ECA Day

Twelve members from the Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) will be traveling to Surry County in Dobson, NC on Thursday, April 9 from 10:00am - 2:00pm for the annual North Central ECA District Day event. We will participate in workshops, listen to guest speaker, enjoy entertainment and crafts, as well as determine the winners of our District Cultural Arts Contest.

Community Health Fair

Join the Kappa Delta Sigma Theta sorority at the Oxford Housing Authority for their Community Health Fair. The Health Fair will be held on the grounds and streets of the Oxford Housing Authority, located at 101 Hillside Drive, Oxford, NC 27565. The event will be held Saturday, April 11 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The Granville County Extension Office will have a booth at the event so be sure to come and visit us.

Are You Being Mindful?

Discover the core principles of mindful living. This practical session aims to demystify mindfulness and explain how it can improve your life based on its Seven Principles. Join us on Tuesday, April 14 at 12:00pm (EST) to help you learn and practice simple techniques to bring greater calm and focus into your daily routine. Handle & Relieve Stress

Build resilience and find balance. Take a step toward better mental well-being. This Lunch N' Learn worship is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 at 12:00pm at the Person County Office Auditorium. It is designed to provide simple, effective strategies to reduce stress in a healthy way. We will cover the following topics: Understanding Mental Health; Ways to Reduce Stress; Tools for Self-Care; Gratitude Journaling; and Improve Your Well-Being at Work. Cost is $5 and must be paid by April 17 to Room 123 of the Person County Office.

Women's Health Awareness

Join the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences on Saturday, April 11 from 8:00am - 5:00pm at Hillside High School (3727 Fayetteville Rd, Durham, NC 27707) for the 2026 Women's Health Awareness Conference. They will have free health screenings, free mammograms, lots of educational sessions, healthy living sessions, resources and more! Online registration is closed but you can register at the event.

Join the Litter Sweep

The Friends of Person County Environment is teaming up with the NC Department of Transportation for their Biannual Cleanup Drive on Saturday, April 18 from 8am - noon. They are asking volunteers to meet at City Hall at 105 S. Lamar Street to register, get instructions and supplies, before heading out.

5K Run & Walk 

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Bulldog 5K Community Fun Run on Saturday, April 18, starting at 9:00am. The event will take place at Optimist Park with registration starting at 8 a.m. Registration for the run is $20 and will go to support their athletic program! In addition to the race, we will be dedicating the new cross country course to RCS!  It will be fun for the whole family, so don't miss out! Granville Gardeners Expo

Get Ready for the 4th annual Granville Gardeners Expo on Saturday, April 18 from 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Granville County Expo Center, located at 4185 US-15 in Oxford, NC. The Granville Gardeners Expo is a day-long event filled with garden, environmental, home and decor related vendors, speakers, demonstrations, and workshops. Local businesses, non-profits, growers, crafters, and more will be joining in the fun. Be sure to visit our Extension Master Gardeners booth.

Nature at Night

Join the North Carolina State-Wide Star Party on Saturday, April 25 from 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Skilled educators will guide groups through the dark night sky and acres of pasture and wooded trails at The Land at Hawkins Loop, a family-owned farm and nature-based event venue in Hurdle Mills. Kendall Nelson, NASA Solar System Ambassador and Person County resident, will have telescopes on hand for viewing, along with trail walks and a snack bar.
