Reminder!!!  4-H Garden Club

This club will be designed to introduce kids to all the different sub-categories of horticulture so they can learn more about the natural world around them and perhaps spark their interests! We will have an interest meeting on Sept 30th @ 6pm in the Alexander Services Building (151 West Main Avenue, Taylorsville, NC 28681 ).

Each spring and fall, Tractor Supply helps raise money for 4‑H programs through the sale of Paper Clovers in their stores. In the most recent campaign, we raised more than $1 million nationwide. 90% of funds raised go back to state and local 4‑H programs to support scholarships for camp and leadership activities.

The 4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Program, also known as WHEP, is a national 4-H program that teaches 4-H'ers about the fundamentals of wildlife management.  It also brings 4-H'ers together to develop team skills, promotes and develops leadership skills among 4-H'ers providing an opportunities to work with natural resource professionals.

There will be a WHEP interest meeting on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Alexander County Center.
Alexander County 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest

October is here and time for the 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest.  Carve or decorate a pumpkin no matter the shape or size and submit a picture of you and your work for a chance to win a prize.  Winners will be selected in following age categories:  7-under, 8-13 and 14-18 years old.  Submissions will be due October 27, 2021 by 5:00 p.m.  Please email pictures to dj_salyer@ncsu.edu.
2022 NC 4-H Summer Camp Dates

Would your child like to attend 4-H Camp at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC next summer??  Alexander 4-H will be taking a group June 19-24, 2022.  4-H Camp is open to youth ages 8-14 years old and offers a variety of camp programs based upon age.  If you would like more information please contact the N.C. Participants received a box featuring locally grown apples from Deal Orchards and Perry Lowe Orchards.  The kits included ingredients and recipe cards to make their own apple crisp and apple cookies.  Der Holcomb, N.C. Cooperative Extension-Alexander County Center, Family and Consumer Science Agent, hosted a live video to demonstrate and work with the participants on their recipes.
