Seed Libraries

Thanks to the  Halifax County Master Gardener volunteers for partnering with us on getting FREE seeds to the community. You can find a seed display in ALL 5 HCLS locations which includes Halifax, Enfield Memorial Library, Littleton Library, Scotland Neck Memorial Library and Weldon Memorial Library.

Food Preservation Class Series

Join the Halifax County Cooperative Extension for hands-on summer food preservation workshops to learn safe techniques for canning fresh strawberry jam, sweet corn, and homemade salsa.

All classes will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m in the Halifax County Cooperative Extension kitchen. Class fee is $10.00 and registration is require. Space is limited.

Free Pressure Canner Testing in Halifax County


The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Halifax County Center, is here to help! We offer professional gauge testing completely free of charge.

  • What to bring: You don't need to haul your entire unit—just bring in your canner lid with the dial gauge attached.

  • Compatible Brands: Our master gauge can test the accuracy of National, Magic Seal, Maid of Honor, and Presto brands.

    • Note: We cannot test All American canner gauges at this time.

Youth will explore wildlife, habitats, forestry, soils, and outdoor skills through hands-on learning and fun activities. Whether your child already loves the outdoors or simply wants to learn more about wildlife and conservation, this is a great opportunity to get involved!

🌊 Celebrate World Oceans Day with Halifax County 4-H! 🌊

Through the NC 4-H Nature Adventures: Coastal Ecology curriculum, youth explore North Carolina’s coastal ecosystems, marine habitats, water quality, and environmental stewardship through hands-on STEM learning.


From learning about estuaries and marine life to understanding how pollution impacts our waterways, youth discover how all ecosystems are connected and how small actions can make a big difference.


At Halifax County 4-H, we are proud to provide meaningful hands-on learning experiences that help youth become future environmental leaders
