Club Fundraiser Opportunity

Harvest Day
October 2, 2021 | 10:00 am

The squash was planted back in the Spring and is now ready for harvesting! Join us at the field on Horton Creek to help harvest the squash! Wear clothes that are comfortable and can get dirty! All club members who participate in the fundraiser will receive a percentage of the proceeds back to their club.

Wash & Pack Day

Washing and packing the squash to prepare it for sale will be the final event of the fundraiser! Drop by as you are able between 5pm and 8pm at TRACTOR to learn how to wash and pack the squash. Wear clothes that are comfortable and can get dirty! All club members who participate in the fundraiser will receive a percentage of the proceeds back to their club.

National 4-H Week Poster Contest

National 4-H Week is October 3rd-9th, 2021! This year's theme is Find Your Spark. In celebration of 4-H in Yancey County, we will be holding a 4-H Week Poster contest. Click the link below for more information about the contest.

4-H Week Poster Contest Topic: What does 4-H mean to you? Youth can illustrate their experiences, what they have learned, what they have been involved in and more!

Prizes will be awarded to the top three posters from each age category!

Halloween on the Square

Come out to Town Square on Saturday, October 30th from 4:00-7:00pm for some family fun and trick or treating! Yancey County 4-H will be there, along with many other local partners and businesses.

2021 Yancey County 4-H Christmas Craft Show

Calling all crafters! Yancey County 4-H is excited to announce our second annual 4-H Christmas Craft Show. We are currently seeking vendors for the show. If your child has crafts they have made and would like to sell, we will have a table set up just for our 4-H'ers. Youth will receive 100% of their proceeds. Email Jordan if this is something your child would like to participate in!

Find your Spark with Yancey County 4-H!

Yancey County 4-H has many different clubs and opportunities for youth to learn and have fun! Check out our current list of clubs below. Club meeting dates are listed under the upcoming events section.

Electric Club- Learn all about the magic of electricity! Open to youth ages 10-12.

Beef Club & Livestock Club- Learn about raising, showing, and caring for livestock. Livestock species include goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits. In Beef Club, participate in the WNC Dairy Steer Program to get an introduction to showing through a hands-on learning experience. Open to youth ages 5-18, some species have age restrictions, contact Jordan for more information.

Shooting Sports Club- Learn about hunter education, safety, and participate in shooting sports activities, including shotgun, rifle and archery. Open to youth ages 8-18 (as of January 1st of the current year). Yancey Longshots is a seasonal club, with practices taking place April-September. Several winter club meetings will take place, including hunter education and firearm safety and care.

Homeschool Club- Open to homeschooled youth ages 5-18 in Yancey County! Learn about a variety of topics from STEM, to cooking and more, while making new friends!

Arts & Crafts Club- Explore your creative side, learning about all avenues of arts & crafts! Open to youth ages 5-18.

Outdoor Adventures Club- Learn about natural resources, wildlife, hiking, environmental science and more! Open to youth ages 9-15.

Sewing Club- Open to youth ages 5-18 of all skill levels! Learn the basics of sewing and craft your own creations to take home.
