Happy National 4-H Week!

As we celebrate this week, we would like to thank all our volunteers, participants, and parents! Each of you are a vital part of our Cleveland County 4-H
Somethin' Pumpkin 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Party

Cleveland County Library System and Mauney Memorial Library are having a decorating contests as part of Somethin' Pumpkin 2021. Your family can come out and decorate a pumpkin for the contest next Tuesday October 12th 5:30pm-7:30pm. You have to RSVP by emailing charlie_godfrey@ncsu.edu so we know how many pumpkins to have.

4-H Homeschool Farm Field Trip

Cleveland County 4-H is hosting a farm field trip for homeschool students and their family at Devine Farms (2675 St James Church Rd, Newton, NC 28658). This will be a fun filled educational field trip. This field trip is open to children of all ages. Each child and adult over the age of 2 needs to be registered to attend. The cost is $7 per child, $7 per adult, under 2 years old is free. Payment must be made by cash or check to Cleveland County 4-H by October 13th at 5:00pm. Payment can be dropped off at the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Office (130 S. Post RD, Suite 1, Shelby, NC 28152).

Parents will have to transport their children to the farm and remain at the farm throuhgout the field trip.

Families will need to bring a bag lunch.

The field trip activites will be from 10am-12pm. Lunch and free time to play at the farm will be from 12pm-2pm. Families are welcome to stay after 2:00pm, but the farm opens to the public at 2:00pm.

Each child registered will receive a pumpkin. The farm store will be open for families that would like to purchase more pumpkins or other items.


FIRST LEGO League Explore 4-H Spin Club

A 4-H Spin Club is a short term 4-H club. This spin club will be our first time offering the FIRST LEGO League Explore program. Each participant will recieve their own enigeering notebook. In Explore, teams of students ages 6-12 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real world problems, learn to design, and code and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 robot.

All the meetings will be from 6:00-7:30pm at the Extension/4-H Office


This club is limited to 10 participants. If we have more interest, we will offer another 4-H FIRST LEGO League Explore sping club in 2022.

Interested in joining a 4-H Club?

We are planning to restart some of our exisiting 4-H clubs and add some new clubs. If your child/children are interested in joining a 4-H club please complete this Google form, https://forms.gle/tB5CDT3Y2kFwzePo7
