Congratulations to our Livestock Judging Team for Winning

2nd Overall Team in the State

This team has been working hard all year to learn about livestock breeds, how to judge, equipment used around livestock and more.  
4-Hers from across North Carolina met up this week to show off their knowledge.  Let's congratulate them for a job well done.

They received multiple team and individual awards for their hard work and great spirit!



Five Macon 4-Hers Attended the 2026 Fur, Fish and Game Camp at
Millstone 4-H Camp

This year was the 37th annual Fur, Fish and Game Camp.    4-Hers spent the week learning about hunter safety; shooting different types of hunting rifles, shotguns and black powder guns; canoeing, fishing, trapping and bird hunting.

Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday August 11th at Deitz farm to practice our showmanship - 6:00pm.  If you are bringing your own goat please park at bottom of hill and we will practice in the field below the driveway.  Also, we need to know who plans to attend the Macon County Fair and who is interested in Mountain State, Haywood County Fair and State Fair in Raleigh.    
Macon Archers

Here we go to competition.  Our West District Tournament will be on Saturday August 8th.  Please wish us luck and good shooting.  We have 8 Macon 4-Hers shooting archery - stay tuned for our results.  Our meeting dates this month will be August 6, 13, 20, 27.
Macon Sharp Shooters

We are also heading to competition on Saturday the 8th.  Rifle will have it's regular practice on Saturday August 22nd and 29th at 10am.
Top Chefs


Chefs has been taking a culinary tour of the world this year.  In July, we made German crepes with local in season fruit and chocolate.  In August, please join us on  Tuesday August 11th at 3:45.
Sassy Stitchers

Our first meeting of the fall will be in September. Thank you to our volunteers for helping us with summer projects to keep our skills "sharp".    Please call Tammara if you are interested in more information about this group


4-H Market Lamb Club

We will have two multi-county lamb clinics this month: State Livestock Specialist Brent Jennings joined us on Thursday August 6th and we will also practice on Thursday August 20th. 

We will also be showing at the Swain County Fair on Saturday August 22nd. Make sure Joe knows if you are interested in showing at Swain County.

Macon 4-H Beekeepers

This month we extracted our honey. In August, we will bottle, label and start selling honey to help fund our take home hives.  We will meet on Wednesday August 12th 5:30 at the Cooperative Extension Office.
