This 1.5-day school is in person. School hours are 8:30a.m.-5:00 p.m. on day one and 8:30-11:30 a.m. on day two. You may attend only one category session since the sessions happen at the same time. The NCDA&CS administers the exams on day two from 1pm - 5pm

We will have a discussion about the effects of the drought and drought recovery, as well as a "meat" and greet to get to know others who are raising livestock. A meal will be served for those who RSVP by Tuesday, September 8th at noon. The cost is TBD, but approximately $10 per person.

Grant Opportunity for Family Farms

The NC AgVentures Farm Grant Program is an NC State Extension grant program that provides grants to existing NC family farms and local nonprofit community organizations to develop agricultural projects that increase farm profits. Funding is provided by the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. NC AgVentures Farm Grant is a competitive grant.

NCDA&CS Agronomic Services laboratory fee is increasing

More Information

North Carolina residents can still get their soil tested for free outside of the peak season, which spans from late November or early December through March. However, starting in fall 2026, the fee during peak months will rise from $4 to $5 per sample.

Jim Kahler Excellence in STEM Programming Award

Youth development professionals from 9 counties and A&T University in the North Central District teamed up to provide a three-day STEM Camp over the summer. Topics included Rube Goldberg’s Challenge, Lego Robotics, Sphero, Blueprints, drones, and AI. Evaluations indicated knowledge gain, behavior change, and an increase in career-ready skills.
