CAMDEN EXTENSION CONNECTIONS
DECEMBER 2021 RECAP

Happy New Year from all of us at the Camden Extension Center. As we reflect on impacts made in 2021 we are also looking forward to 2022. Through educational programming in the areas of Agriculture, 4-H Youth Development, and Family and Consumer Sciences we are looking forward to further serving the citizens of Camden County in 2022.

Agriculture
Extension Provides Pesticide Safety and Education Classes
Farmers, as well as commercial pesticide applicators, who apply restricted use pesticides are required to obtain continuing education credits by attending approved classes. Cooperative Extension staff across the state offer educational opportunities, which cover topics such as pesticide safety and proper usage, annually to assist clientele. In 2021 Camden Extension met local needs by providing 772.5 hours of continuing education credit to pesticide applicators through 16 classes.
Winter Agriculture Meetings Kicked-Off
Camden Extension holds many agriculture meetings to serve our Camden County farmers during the winter months. Things kicked off with two virtual meetings in December. Firstly, a grain marketing and crop budget meeting was held on December 2nd featuring guest speakers from NC State Agricultural and Resource Economics department with 38 people in attendance. On December the 8th Camden and Pasquotank County Extension staff partnered with Extension personnel from NC State and the University of Wisconsin to offer our annual Area Potato Production Meeting, which had 31 people in attendance.

Meeting season kicks into high gear in January and February. In addition to popular mainstays such as Corn and Soybean Production meetings, programs with new topics have been organized to target key agricultural needs. Details for all upcoming Camden Extension events can be accessed on the event tab of our website:
