Clover Connection
Rowan County 4-H Newsletter

January 2022

From the 4-H Agent,
Laura Allen:

Happy New Year! I hope you're ready to start a strong 4-H year in 2022!

There are several approaching deadlines in 2022 and upcoming events, so note all of this information in the newsletter. This newsletter also includes details about 4-H Camp for Summer 2022 and 4-H Embryology for teachers with three cycles open January-May 2022. You can register now for these 2022 programs!

I have been told by NC 4-H that 4-HOnline will be shut down through January 6. But, on January 7 or soon thereafter, make sure to login to re-enroll in 4-H! You cannot participate in 4-H in 2022 unless you get re-enrolled for 2022. As a reminder, youth & volunteers need to re-enroll. Parents, you do not have to enroll yourself unless you want to become an official volunteer. You can learn more about becoming a volunteer here.

If you need anything, please contact me at:
laura_allen@ncsu.edu

Best wishes for a happy, healthy new year!

Laura

Rowan 4-H Achievement Program
recognizing 2021 4-H achievements

February 26, 2022
10 AM
Extension office

1. Each parent should complete the following Achievement Program Certificate form to make sure their child's certificate is accurate. Must be completed by Feb. 15 in order for the child to get a year of service pin and for their achievements to be printed on the form.

2. Families will need to RSVP to attend the Achievement Program in 4-HOnline under "events". Currently this is not available since 4-HOnline is down. I will notify you once you can do this. Due by Feb. 15.

3. Please note that due to Covid & space limitations, each family can only have the 4-H'ers and up to 2 additional family members attend the event. Please make plans now for childcare for younger non-4-H age children. We apologize for the inconvenience.

4. In the event that Covid restrictions become more stringent and an indoor, in-person event is not possible, this event will be moved outdoors. If this happens, please bring a lawn chair and bundle up for a quick, outdoor Achievement Program!
REGISTER for
Speak Up!

This is THE BEST way for youths to learn more about public speaking...and it's taught by a professional! It's child friendly and they will learn so many skills that will help them for a lifetime! This is also recommended for youths who are interested in or planning to do a 4-H presentation in 2022!

To register, email 4-H Agent Laura Allen at laura_allen@ncsu.edu or call 704-216-8970.

ALL official 4-H volunteers, regardless if you are a club leader or a non-club leader volunteer, should report your monthly contacts. This greatly assists Laura will her Extension reporting due every year as your contacts and hours have to be reported.

Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2022monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the month you are reporting (ex: January reports due Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing these reports! This should only take you about 5 minutes!
Interested in your child attending overnight 4-H Camp in 2022? Open to youths ages 8-14 (based on the age they will be while at camp).
