Eggceptional Eggsplorers 4-H Chicken Chain
The Tri-County Chicken Chain has a new name! The Eggceptional Eggsplorers is a chicken pullet show where youth receive day-old chicks, then raise them to show at our October Show. Youth gain valuable skills in responsibility, life cycles, animal husbandry, and money and budget management.

State 4-H VLA Meeting Now Online
The decision has been made to cancel Volunteer Leaders' Conference for 2022 due to COVID.  The Association does have business to conduct, so they will hold a virtual business meeting on Saturday, February 5 from 10:00 - 11:30 am.  Following a short statewide business meeting including electing State officers and voting on bylaw and constitution changes , districts will have the opportunity to go into breakout rooms for district business meetings.

Registration Now Open!
Registration for the Central Piedmont Junior Livestock Show is now open. The show will be held April 12-13 in Hillsborough, NC. Registration ends March 15th.

Small Farms Week
Extension at A&T’s 36th annual tribute to small-scale agriculture is set for March 21-26 and will feature educational programs, panel discussions, tours, and the unveiling of a new Small Farmer of the Year. Mark your calendars now, and stay tuned for updates, including a webpage with online registration.
USDA/1890 National Scholars Program
The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program seeks to increase the number of minorities studying agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, and related disciplines. The program provides full tuition, employment, employee benefits, fees, books, and room and board each year for up to 4 years.
Application deadline is February 15th.

Horticultural Science Summer Institute
Applications are open for the 2022 Horticultural Science Summer Institute. This in-person, weeklong, residential pre-college program is for high school youth to explore the wondrous world of horticulture. July 10-15.

NC State Fair Youth Livestock Scholarship
All youth who have exhibited a livestock animal at the N.C. State Fair are eligible to apply for this scholarship,
regardless of breed, class or show placement. Showmen and previous showmen are encouraged to apply for
scholarships each year. Due March 1st.

New 4-H Club!
There's a new club in Guilford County! The Poultry Pack 4-H Club at NC A&T will be focusing on Poultry Science. Planned activities include embryology, avian bowl, poultry judging, and more! Our first project will be hatching eggs at home! To get added to our email list, contact club leader, Yewande Fasina. Be sure to include your name and phone number.
