March Highlights


There was much to celebrate at Currituck Extension in March! We celebrated the achievements of Currituck 4-H members, installed a new Extension Master Foods Volunteer and held a multitude of educational classes on a variety of topics. ServSafe Food Safety Class

Calling all those in the restaurant and foodservice industry! N.C. Cooperative Extension will be offering a ServSafe Food Safety Class May 4-6th! The class will be held at the Currituck Extension Office (120 Community Way Barco NC 27917) and will begin promptly at 9 a.m. each day. ServSafe is a course designed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to provide foodservice operators, managers, and support personnel with the knowledge essential for food preparation and handling within their respective facilities to help reduce the risk of food-borne illness.

Getting Started with Honey Bees

Are you interested in raising honey bees, but don’t know where to start? Or maybe you need help finding equipment or information? Don’t worry, N.C. Cooperative Extension Currituck Center has the class for you! Starting on April 19th, from 6:00-7:30 at the Currituck Extension Center, we’ll cover the basics of how to get started with beekeeping, what equipment you’ll need, what a year in the life of a beekeeper is like, and how to get your first jar of honey. This free, four-part series, will be held every Tuesday from 6:00-7:30 until May 10th.
4-H Achievement Ceremony

Currituck County 4-H hosted its Annual 4-H Achievement Night and Leaders Recognition Celebration at Currituck County Extension on March 3, 2022. Achievement Night recognizes 4-H members for their outstanding accomplishments and volunteerism through 4-H. Volunteers are also recognized in appreciation of their hard work and commitment to the Currituck County 4-H program. Over the course of the year, 83 Currituck County 4-H’ers participated in a multitude of County, District, State and National level events and competitions.
