Public Speaking Program Kick Off
Do you have a child ages 5-18 (as of January 1) that you would like to get engaged in extracurricular activities? Do you feel that public speaking skills are important for your child to have? Does your child have a special talent that they would love to share? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then 4-H has just the activity planned! This is an event where youth ages 5-18 (as of January 1) compete in 4-H presentations and youth ages 8-18 can compete in 4-H Talent. We will have three rooms with two or three judges in each room ready to provide constructive feedback enabling your child to polish the program and take it to the district competition in June if they so choose.

2022 Tractor Supply Paper Clover
April Project Record Books
Since 2010, Tractor Supply Company (TSC) has partnered with 4-H to raise more than $17 million dollars through the Paper Clover campaign. The success of these campaigns has impacted over 81,500 youth with opportunities to attend 4-H camps or leadership events.

The Paper Clover campaign collects customer donations at the register to benefit local 4-H programs.
Continue working on Project Record Books – Do a Civic Engagement Project. May is a great time to celebrate our military, local heroes. As school ends and we approach District Activity Day, make sure to record any awards you may have received.

What Do You Want to be When You Grow Up? by Pam Kerley, 4-H
We have all heard a child tell us what they want to be when they grow up. For a while, I kept a running list of my oldest daughter’s aspirations as she moved from dancer to horse trainer with several ideas in between. The standard careers that make a child’s imagined future, like firefighter or YouTuber, are fun to hear and are actually an important part of a child’s development. Career exploration begins at birth, occurring when the object of a story is doing something interesting, “I want to be a train engineer”. As they get older, conversations about work over the dinner table will spark a child’s interest, “I want to be a teacher like Dad”. Helping your child recognize career options early can show him or her that work can be fun if it is in an area of interest.
Additional Enrollment Information:
There are two ways to participate as a 4-H'er in North Carolina. You can be an enrolled member or you can be a program participant. The state has guide sheets for information about 4-H online.

Take a minute and edit your account to include all the topics in which your child is interested. Often community groups will contact me with a special interest mentoring offer. Right now the Lemon Springs ECA club wants to offer their skills to club members who may want to learn about web design, sewing, biscuit making, ect. When these opportunties present themselves I will search the members for folks who might be interested and contact you.
