Congratulations Class of 2022!
We are so proud of our 4-H Seniors and all of their hard work and accomplishments. Thank you for your dedication to our 4-H program and all that you do to represent Yancey County 4-H. We hope you will take what you have learned in 4-H with you, and make the best better as you start this new chapter in your lives. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

New Club Spotlight: 4-H Equine Club
We are excited to announce a new club coming to Yancey County 4-H! Thanks to our new volunteer, Chastity Sprinkle, we will be starting an Equine Club this summer in partnership with Bucktown Stables! The club is kicking off with a one-day workshop as part of our Summer Fun Series.
Workshop Information:
- Ages 5-9: Tuesday, June 7th
- Ages 10-18: Wednesday, June 8th
- 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Learn all about the basics of horses, including grooming, tacking and riding!
- Cost: $50
- Lunch provided

Sizzlin' Summer Fun on the Square this Saturday!
The PATH Sizzlin’ Summer Series features fun, family-friendly activities and is traditionally held each Saturday morning throughout the summer months on the Burnsville Town Square. Themes include biking, water sports, dance, and much more. All events are free, and appropriate for all ages and abilities.
Yancey County 4-H will be hosting the first event of the series on Saturday, June 4th! "Unplugged: Family Fun Time!" Join Yancey County 4-H for a morning of interactive games and activities for the whole family! Play games like bucket ball and ladder golf, and get creative while constructing a craft to take home and making your own healthy snacks!

Last Call to Sign up for 2022 Summer Fun!
Our first camp of the 2022 Summer Fun series starts next week with our Horse Workshops! Spaces are filling up quickly for our 2022 Summer Fun camps. NOTE: The Outdoor Adventures Camp is now full. This year we are offering eight different camps and workshops to youth. Click the link below for detailed information on all of the camps and to register! Registration deadline is June 6th, or until camps are full.

Talking About Current Events How do I talk to my children about current events?
The recent tragedy in Texas has left many families feeling anxious, scared, sad, and angry. When things like this happen, we wonder why. It’s an even bigger question coming from our kids who attend school each and every day. How do we talk to the youth in our lives about these major events to gauge how they’re handling what they hear? Community Service Opportunity
Yancey County 4-H has an opportunity for youth to put their "Hands to Larger Service" this summer! On June 11th at the Burnsville Town Center, there will be a benefit concert for Annabelles Haven. Annabelles Haven is an organization which serves women and children impacted by domestic violence. 4-H'ers have the opportunity to help out selling refreshments at this event. All proceeds will go directly to the organization which is a designated 501(c)-3. Email Jordan if you are interested in volunteering at this event (Jordan_english@ncsu.edu)!

Summer Internship Program
Yancey County 4-H is now accepting applications for an intern (Age 15-21) to assist with 2022 Summer Fun programs. Interns will gain experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation as well as skills in public speaking, time management, and youth development. Position descriptions are linked below. To apply, please complete the application form. Applications are due no later than June 6th at 5 p.m. Selected applicants will be contacted shortly after for an in-person interview.

Yancey County 4-H T-shirts for Sale!
Yancey County 4-H T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Extension Office starting Monday, June 20th. Shirts are $15 each. Cash or Check (Made to Yancey County 4-H) accepted. Sizes Youth Medium - Adult 3XL available.

Club Updates for the Summer
Beef Club - Beef Club will not have a regular meeting (second Tuesday) during the month of June. Members are encouraged to attend the 4-H Night at the Asheville Tourists on that night instead! The Club will be holding several farm days during the summer, look for information from Ms. Lynn about these dates!
Livestock Club - Livestock Club will have their regular meeting (first Monday of the month) on June 6th. In July, the Club will not have a regular meeting, but will have a farm day and other meeting dates, contact David for more information. Reminder: Catawba Valley Circuit registration is due June 15th.
Sewing Club - Sewing Club will not meet during the month of June. Meetings will resume in late July or early August. More details to come at a later date!
Homeschool Club - Homeschool Club will continue to meet throughout the Summer on June 29th and July 27th.
Outdoor Adventures Club - Outdoor Adventures Club will hold their June meeting on Friday, June 3rd 9am-1pm. This trip will be a service project where club members will complete a bio-assessment of flora and fauna found in the park. If you would like to attend this trip, email Jordan (Jordan_english@ncsu.edu). The July meeting date and activity will be announced later this month, stay tuned!
Arts & Crafts Club - Arts & Crafts Club will continue to meet throughout the Summer on the second Monday of each month (June 13th and July 11th)
Longshots Club - Longshots will continue to meet throughout the Summer. Juniors practice on the 1st and 3rd Thursday's, Seniors on the 2nd and 4th Thursday's.
