4-H Youth Development
Camp BLUE Was a Huge Success
We wrapped up another exciting camp for 2022!16 students participated in Camp BLUE this year. The weekly themes were: Where the Wild Things are, Water World, and Treasure Hunt. We were so happy to provide enriching outdoor experiences where students learned about animal habitats, the ecosystem, water quality, various waterways, gemstone mining, map reading and much more. They also enjoyed Field Trip Fridays! A special shout out for our 2 teen camp counselors and 2 adult volunteers that helped Camp BLUE be a success this year.
Family & Consumer Sciences
Kitchen Science Camp
This summer the Family and Consumer Sciences Department teamed up with the 4-H
Department to offer some youth cooking camps. The first camp held on July 14th was
bread making where campers prepared pizza crust from scratch and then topped it with
their favorite pizza toppings! The second camp in the series was Candy Making, held on
July 28th. Campers prepared a variety of candy including caramel popcorn, suckers,
chocolate-covered pretzels, and fudge. We look forward to offering more cooking
classes to youth as the year progresses!
