Recent headlines about insect declines and three billion fewer birds in North America are a bleak reality check about how ineffective our current landscape designs have been at sustaining the plants and animals that sustain us. The good news is there’s still time! Tallamy will discuss simple steps each of us can take by adding native plants to our home landscape to increase biodiversity. He will explain why we, ourselves, are nature’s best hope. Doug Tallamy will be in Burlington, NC at the Paramount Theatre on Thursday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m.   Tickets are $5.00 and are available at the Paramount Theater Box Office 12-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

This month our 4H Garden Club learned all about hummingbirds! They learned about the species we have here in NC, how to plant for them, and how to make hummingbird food correctly. They also made their own diy hummingbird feeders!

If your children are interested in our garden club, join us in August 11th where we will be starting our fall planting of vegetables in our community garden!

Check out the photos below from the meeting in July:

This is your reminder to water your lawn & plants only when needed during these hot days of August!
