Here are a few of my favorite national days:
September 4th - National Wildlife Day
September 18th- National Cheeseburger Day
September 24th - National Hunting and Fishing Day
September 28th - National North Carolina Day
Alexander County 4-H Clubs

Now is a great time to get involved with 4-H Clubs in Alexander County.  Many took the summer months off and will be regrouping.  Below is a list of our active clubs at this time.  If you are looking for a club and need more information please contact the 4-H Office at 828-632-3125. 

Alexander County Livestock 4-H Club-meets 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center (will not meet in September due to Labor Day)

Alexander County 4-H Garden Club-meets 1st Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center


Southern Grace 4-H Club-meets 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center

Boots and Breeches 4-H Club-meets last Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m.  Location:  Foothills Equestrian Center-Taylorsville

Shockers 4-H Electric Club-meets 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center

Whisk it Up 4-H Cooking Club-meets 4th Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center

WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Education Program) - 2023 Intro Meeting will be held September 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Alexander County Service Center.
 
The NC Ag Star Homegrown Voice Talent Search is open for registrations. Find all the contest details at NCAgStar.com Semi-finals begin in September.
August Round-up
 
Alexander 4-H Summer Opportunities continued in August with the final two camps of the summer.  4-H20 was a blast for youth and staff.  The group visited Table Rock Fish Hatchery and Western North Carolina Nature Center, canoed John's River, white water rafted on the French Broad and overnight camped in Hot Springs, NC.  Check out the photos above from the white water rafting adventure.  
The last camp for the summer was STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Camp.  The participants designed and battled their own robots, completed circuits, built a flying saucer and launched rockets they built.   Check out the photo below of the participants with their rockets:
 
The Alexander County 4-H held it's 4-H Photography Contest and wow did we have some great photos submitted.

The 2022 results are as follows:

Attention Volunteers!!
This conference is open to anyone working with 4-H Youth across the US and is hosted by volunteers from the southern region. The conference will be held October 6-9, 2022 on site at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA. Virtual and pre-recorded options are available for those that cannot join the conference in person. This event gives access to top-notch educational sessions as well as a chance to meet other 4-H volunteers. Learn more and register.  
 

ALL 4-H members and volunteers MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate in any programs or clubs that are provided by Alexander County 4-H.
