The Cherokee County Master Gardeners are available to answer your gardening questions. Each Tuesday and Thursday, you can call our office at 828/837-2210 - Ext #3 and talk to one of our Master Gardener Volunteers. They will be happy to assist you with your home horticulture questions.

The classes will be held at 699 Connahetta Park (near the Rock Gym) in Murphy NC. The cost will be $150.00. Please email doug_clement@ncsu.edu if you would like more information, or go to go.ncsu.edu/cherokeecounty to sign up. There will be COVID protocols in place for the training (wear a mask and social distancing) until NC protocols change. If group restrictions occur, training will be held virtually.
Visit NC Farms App
Whether you’re looking for seasonal produce or good old-fashioned fun, you can plan a visit to a North Carolina farm using the Visit NC Farms app. Developed by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and managed by community-based app administrators, the app is now in the process of statewide expansion. Just download it for free from the App Store or Google Play and start exploring agribusiness destinations in your own community and across the state. You can browse categories ranging from farmers markets and local restaurants to U-pick operations, farm stays, tours, special events and more.
The Appalachian Beekeepers Club helps promote healthy bee colonies in the Appalachian mountains of western North Carolina — particularly the Murphy, NC area. If you are a new beekeeper, an experienced beekeeper, or simply thinking of becoming a beekeeper, come join us! We have resumed in-person meetings and are changing our meeting schedule to the first Monday of each month starting with the May 3, 2021 meeting @ 7:00 pm at the Konehete Park, Parks & Recreation Office Building at 699 Connehetta Street in Murphy, NC.
4-H of North Carolina invites you to explore three featured citizen science projects anyone can do in North Carolina and a new “Foundations of Citizen Science” training program from SciStarter.

4-H Summer Camp Season Orientation In an effort to help communicate our policies and procedures for our 2021 summer camp season, the NC 4-H Camping Staff have recorded and produced a YouTube video that shares information for our 2021 summer camp season, including our COVID-19 policies, procedures, and protocols, so that campers and parents have information prior to the start of our summer camp season.
The 4-H Fly Tying & Fishing Club has gotten started back and now our Cherokee Riders 4-H Horse Club is getting kicked off as well with in person meetings!!
This statewide annual contest highlights North Carolina 4-H’ers’ photographic achievements. The winning photos are then premiered during National 4-H Week and displayed on the North Carolina 4-H Photography Contest website.
Our new category for 2021 is “My Best Friend.” A best friend can be People, Pets, What, or Whomever. Capture the spirit of your best friend! Use your ace photography skills to capture your best friend in action! Whether it’s a picture taken at home or while you are traveling, we want to see those photographs.
North Carolina 4-H has more than 263,000 youth, and 15,000 adult volunteers, who are involved in 4-H experiences each year and we are pleased that you have decided to join4-H! Here is some information about our enrollment process and how we need your partnership in getting your enrollment entered and approved. All participation records change to an inactive status on December 31st of each year. The NC 4-H Program runs on a calendar year. Open enrollment for youth and adult volunteers begins in mid-January and continues throughout the year.
