Raised Bed Fall Gardening
The children enjoyed having a summer garden so they have planted a fall garden. At the last meeting, the children had taken out the summer crops and planted collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and brussel sprouts.
 
Be a Hunger Hero
All high school youth are invited to join us for the 2023 North Carolina Youth Institute, a program that provides a platform for youth to research and give recommendations to solve key global challenges that range from food insecurity, access to potable water, poverty, human rights, engineering issues, and more.

Selection & Care of Christmas Trees
Selecting the “perfect” Christmas tree for your home can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for the entire family. Decorating and displaying a real Christmas tree is a tradition followed by generations of families. Christmas trees are grown in almost every county in North Carolina. Fraser firs from the North Carolina mountains are shipped nationwide. Farm-raised Christmas trees are grown sustainably and are completely recyclable. While hardier than most flowers, fruits or vegetables, real Christmas trees are also perishable. For your Christmas tree to hold up past the holidays, it should be selected and cared for with freshness in mind. Holiday Quick Breads Class
Kim Terrell, FCS Agent, hosted a holiday quick breads & wreath class. Participants learned the difference between yeast breads & quick breads & enjoyed a hands on baking experience while sharing holiday quick bread recipes & tasting. The class also made a Christmas Wreath using fresh greenery.
