On March 18th, Dr. Hannah Levenson from NC State University gave a talk on the "Who, What, and How of Native Bees." She gave a great presentation that was attended by over 60 Master Gardeners and members of the public.

Fourth graders from Nathanael Greene Elementary School made a chilly visit to Homeland Creamery for a Conservation Field Day on Tuesday. Organized by the Guilford County Soil and Water Conservation District, the field day featured several stations focused on conservation education with Conservation professionals from Guilford Extension, Guilford County Watershed Protection and Stormwater Management, NC Forest Service, USDA, and Homeland Creamery to help facilitate the sessions. |

What to Know About Soil Testing
Testing Services for Nutrients and pH is provided by the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Soils Lab for free to North Carolina residents except during peak season (December 1- March 31) when there is a $5 fee. Soil test boxes are available at the Ag Center. Please mail your soil test boxes to the testing lab in Raleigh using the address listed on the form. Learn More |

Community Garden Spotlight: Prince Edward Greave Homes

Their enthusiasm for beautifying their shared space was truly inspiring, and it was a joy to connect with such a dedicated group committed to growing a stronger, greener community.

at the Ag Center Demonstration Garden
Join us for a day full of fun and learning for the whole family!
Pollinators are important contributors to our gardens, and this event will celebrate and raise awareness about their vital role. This year's event will emphasize native bees. Explore a variety of informative table displays, create your own bee hotel, and pick up a goody bag and a free plant (while supplies last). Don’t forget to snap a photo with Polly Nater and grab a bag of popcorn to enjoy as you wander through the garden.

Join FCS Agent Vincent Webb to learn more about canning strawberry jam.
Canning is a safe, economical way to preserve quality food at home. Canning interrupts the normal spoiling and decaying cycle of food. This is done by heating the food contained in a home canning jar and closing it with a two-piece vacuum sealing cap. |
