Congratulations to 4-H Agent Meredith Kreeger and her Game of Drones team for Forsyth and Guilford County! The 4-H team, worked hard with the youth team to practice, and it paid off. The team came in 2nd place at the competition! One youth also received an MVP Award!

Alyssa McKim, our Food Security Coordinator, received an award on behalf of the NC Cooperative Extension for her amazing work with the Triad Black Faith Leaders and Black Farmers Network at their brunch & awards ceremony this month. This gathering brought together farmers, supporters, and community partners for a chance to share a nourishing meal, honor the work happening across their network, and invest in a more just and resilient food future for the Triad area. What to Know About Soil Testing
Testing Services for Nutrients and pH is provided by the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Soils Lab for free to North Carolina residents except during peak season (December 1- March 31) when there is a $5 fee. Soil test boxes are available at the Ag Center. Please mail your soil test boxes to the testing lab in Raleigh using the address listed on the form. Learn More |

Community Garden Spotlight: The Boy Scouts
Bryson Legrand, alongside his father and the entire Boy Scouts Troop 316 family, came together to complete Bryson’s Eagle Scout Project in the Mixed Greens Community Garden. With teamwork and dedication on full display, the group successfully installed four beautifully constructed raised garden beds.
Leaders from the Mixed Greens Community Garden were also present to lend their support and express heartfelt gratitude for this meaningful gift. The finishing touch was the addition of a bench, generously donated by Guilford County Farm Bureau, to the Mixed Greens Community Garden.

at the Ag Center Demonstration Garden
Join us for a day full of fun and learning for the whole family!
Pollinators are important contributors to our gardens, and this event will celebrate and raise awareness about their vital role. This year's event will emphasize native bees. Explore a variety of informative table displays, create your own bee hotel, and pick up a goody bag and a free plant (while supplies last). Don’t forget to snap a photo with Polly Nater and grab a bag of popcorn to enjoy as you wander through the garden.

Extension Master Gardener℠ Garden Show 2026 |

Save the date for the 2nd Annual Extension Master Gardener℠ Garden Show! This is a free and fun event for everyone to attend. Come and see the entries of Guilford County's Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers showing off their gardening knowledge and work in practice! Vote for your favorite entry in the 'People's Choice Award and participate in one of the two free workshops: a hands-on flower arranging class with a Master Gardener℠ volunteer or a gardening tools session taught by Extension Agent, Taylor Jones!

The Guilford County Center will be a location for the next NC Farm School session! NCFS utilizes an extension framework in a 4-to-6 county cluster where Extension agents play a key role in classroom presentations, group facilitation, and enterprise selection. They teach sound production practices and crop-management decision-making as part of a process to deliver a fully developed business curriculum over a four-month period. |

4-H Embryology Classrooms |
|
4-H Agent Lauren Taubert facilitates another round of Embryology for teachers! The first round of the 4-H Embryology program this spring has been presented in 31 classrooms across 9 schools so far. The program includes teacher training and in-class candling with 27 classes. Participation has included 568 youth, 53 adults, and 1 youth volunteer so far!

Canning is a safe, economical way to preserve quality food at home. Canning interrupts the normal spoiling and decaying cycle of food. This is done by heating the food contained in a home canning jar and closing it with a two-piece vacuum sealing cap. |
