Stanly 4-H'ers Present at State Finals in Raleigh
In the spring, Stanly County 4-H revived the annual County Activity Day event. Six brave Stanly 4-H'ers stood before our panel of judges and gave 5-12 minute presentations on topics of their choosing. All six advanced to the South Central District Activity Day competition in June. Two of the six advanced to the State Finals in Raleigh - Hadley Denton and Ty Crayton. During the first day of NC 4-H Congress, Ty and Hadley gave their presentations one last time at Enloe High School in Raleigh. Ty's presentation on biomass took third place and Hadley's presentation on Horse First Aid took fifth. We could not be more proud of the Stanly 4-H'ers who represented us at District Activity Day and the State Finals competitions. Congratulations, Hadley and Ty! Now is a wonderful time for all Stanly 4-H'ers to consider doing a presentation at this spring's County Activity Day!

is a series of livestock shows organized by Randolph, Stanly/Anson, Cumberland, Cabarrus, Richmond, chatham, Lee, Union, Moore/Montgomery, Robeson Counties where participants earn points for their performance in showmanship classes. These points accumulate throughout the season, and 4-H'ers with the most points at the end are recognized as regional winners.

Make plans to check out the Stanly/Anson show on August 15th and 16th as part of the 2025 Ag Day event at the Farm Bureau Livestock Arena.
The deadline to register for the 2025 Showmanship Circuit has passed, but it's a great time to think about registering for next year and checking out a livestock show from the audience to see how it all goes down!

Volunteer Opportunity!
Calling all 4-H'ers 10 and up! Would you like to be part of the team that keeps the Rocky River Youth Livestock Classic Livestock Show rolling?! Can you commit at least 30 minutes on Saturday, August 16th to work alongside the Stanly Cooperative Extension team?!
Contact Livestock Agent, Katelyn Stegall at Katelyn_Stegall@ncsu.edu to apply to become an Arena Sweeper!
Picture this - the sheep have left the arena and it's time for the goats. The sheep can't clean up after themselves, but the goats deserve a pristine show arena too! That's where you come in. Arena sweepers to the rescue! You've been trained, and given top of the line tools (a rake and a bucket). You rush out like a bolt of lightening and make that arena floor fit for a deserving goat! The crowd goes wild! All the animals say thank you. You feel like a million bucks. |
