The Greensboro District 4-H Junior Dairy Show on July 15th had 60 youth and 55 cows! This experience taught youth how to properly care for and train a dairy calf while also helping them develop valuable life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, patience, and confidence in a show setting. |

Chef & the Child, a 4-H cooking class camp for kids taught by a professional chef, had a great turnout! We had 18 youth and a total of 7 chefs assisting the program, and a community partner. Chef Rush, Chef Keith, Chef Noah, Chef Melinda, Chef Olga, Chef Asia, Chef Tori, as well as Community Partner: Deepti Sharma with Divine Spark Association, collaborated to make this event a success. |

What to Know About Soil Testing
Testing Services for Nutrients and pH is provided by the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Soils Lab for free to North Carolina residents except during peak season (December 1- March 31) when there is a $4 fee. Soil test boxes are available at the Ag Center. Please mail your soil test boxes to the testing lab in Raleigh using the address listed on the form. Learn More |

Attendees can participate anywhere from 15 minutes to the full 3 hours according to their preference, and may come at any point during the 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. time period. One count takes 15 minutes, and participants can take as many counts as they would like.

Med instead Meds - Recipe of the Month |
Cooking fish at home may seem like a daunting task. But in truth, cooking with seafood can be a quick and enjoyable way to break the monotony of weeknight dinners. Searing is an easy and delicious way to cook fresh or frozen fish filets. The Med Way includes plenty of healthy and nutritious meals that are also delicious and satisfying. We teach Eating the Med Way through the Family & Consumer Sciences Program.

Grower's Certificate |
Growerโs Certificates are for agricultural products that are grown/raised/produced in Guilford County, North Carolina Certificates expire on December 31st, 2025. Growerโs Certificates are maintained by N.C. Cooperative Extension, Guilford County Center to certify producers who are selling agricultural products grown in Guilford County. Local farmerโs markets or other sellers may ask for a Growerโs Certificate to show that your products are from Guilford County. They can also serve as a marketing piece for your local foods! |

Each year North Carolina 4-H partners with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners on a multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative helps youth learn more about county government as well as how to become more involved in local decision making. This is a great opportunity to meet other teens from across the state with similar interests!
