Agroforestry Survey for Landowners

If you are a farmer raising livestock or crops, or a forest landowner, we would love to get your feedback on the topic of agroforestry. Agroforestry is the intentional integration of trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock to improve productivity, profitability, and environmental benefits.

The results of the survey will be used to plan and implement an agroforestry workshop here in Chatham County. I did an agroforestry presentation last year and there was much interest in more on this topic, so the survey was designed to solicit specific interests and needs. Your feedback is anonymous. We appreciate your time!

Cooperative Extension’s Pollinator Habitat Workshop and Native Plant Sale Attracted Hundreds of Folks to Pittsboro

Chatham County Cooperative Extension Sustainable Agriculture Agent Debbie Roos conducted a workshop titled “Create Biodiverse Habitat for Pollinators and Other Wildlife” in late September at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro. Approximately 200 participants from 25 counties attended the five-hour workshop, and another hundred or so joined that group to attend the Native Plant Sale that followed the workshop. The plant sale featured three Chatham County nurseries: Growing Wild, Mellow Marsh Farm, and Rachel’s Native Plants. Proceeds from the sale went directly to the nurseries.

If you would like to subscribe to Debbie’s email list to learn about future pollinator programs, email debbie_roos@ncsu.edu
