Thank You for a Successful Fundraiser!
On March 6, we wrapped up our Spring Plant Sale Fundraiser to support 4-H programming here in Stanly County. Hats off and a huge THANK YOU to our community for making this fundraiser a huge success. Those who shopped our plant sale, shared information with others and the volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to help our processes run smoothly - your contributions have made it possible to offer all summer programs to Stanly 4-H'ers at no charge to their families, and every child who attends overnight camp in June will be able to do so at a discounted rate. We can't wait to do it again next spring!

It's Time for Stanly County Activity Days! Make your appointment today!
Public speaking is an essential life skill that is critical to our workforce today. Start polishing those public speaking skills early by participating in 4-H presentations.
All Stanly County 4-Hโers are encouraged to participate in County Activity Day coming up this spring. Now is the time to start thinking about and developing a 5-7 minute presentation on a topic of your interest OR a 5min or less talent show performance. Participation in County Activity Day teaches valuable life skills and will be required to participate in the 2025 county livestock show.
Stanly County 4-H'ers will present and perform by appointment over a 2 week period. If you would like to participate in the 4-H Presentation Competition or 4-H Entertains Talent show, please contact the 4-H Office to reserve your time slot no later than April 1, 2025. This the deadline for scheduling your time slot during County Activity Days. Stanly County Activity Days will be Monday April 21 - Friday, May 2.
What is a 4-H Presentation?
4-H Presentations are 5-12 minutes long and are either demonstrations or illustrated talks. This means that you are either demonstrating how to do something or you are talking about a topic of interest and using props to add value to your presentation. Youth ages 5-7 (as of January 1 of the current year) are Cloverbuds and do not compete, but are allowed to participate with a presentation of any time length.
Contact our office or follow this link to learn more about NC 4-H Presentations and 4-H Entertains talent competition rules. Details about county-level presentations along with example videos can be found on our website at https://stanly.ces.ncsu.edu/4-h-youth-development-3/4-h-presentations-2/ |

New leaders host an educational kickoff meeting

We are fortunate that Clint and Misti have chosen to volunteer with 4-H because they to share their knowledge and passion with young people. This new club met for the first time on Feb 26 at the Agri Civic Center. Members learned which foods are safe for rabbits and how to pose their animals during the upcoming Piedmont Rabbit Project Show. If your 4-H'er would like to join in on the fun and learning, all are welcome to attend upcoming club meetings on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30PM. Established 4-H Clubs and the People Behind Them
Being part of a 4-H Club lets youth discover new skills, become leaders, make lasting friendships and build their futures. Clubs meet monthly and are open to all 4-H'ers. Dedicated volunteer leaders from the community are the heart of our program, and Stanly 4-H has some of the best around.
Rocky River Riders, Stanly's longest-standing club, is focused on horses and led by 4-H parents, Kathryn Nelson and Miranda Stroupe. Rocky River Riders meets at the West Stanly Saddle Club on the 2nd Friday of each month at 6:30PM.
