CHA-CHING 4-H SPIN Club

Are you a current or aspiring club or group treasurer?  Then this new statewide SPIN club is for you!  This club will meet five (5) times this fall, from 7PM-8:15PM via Zoom.  Meeting dates will be September 14, September 28, October 12, October 26, and November 9.

'All SySTEMs Go!' Club Meeting

Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) club meets the last Monday of each month at 7PM at Love's Chapel UMC in Stanfield.  This club participates in a variety of STEM projects and activities, and is welcoming new members!  The next 'All SySTEMs Go!' meeting will be held on September 27.

Summer Blast Survey- Enter to Win!

If your child(ren) participated in our Summer Blast camp program this summer, we'd love to hear from you!  Please complete the quick survey linked below by September 30, 2021.  If you complete and return this survey (via email to michaela_vick@ncsu.edu) by the deadline, you will be entered to win $50 off of Summer Blast fees for 2022!  PLEASE NOTE- If you had more than one child attend our camps this summer, you will only need to complete the survey once.

NC 4-H Virtual Volunteer Training

North Carolina 4-H will host a FREE virtual training session on Saturday morning, October 23rd.  The training will be delivered over Zoom and is open to the first 200 volunteers who register!  For more information, including the agenda and how to register, visit the link below.  These sessions will not be recorded, so be sure to sign up and attend! Registration closes October 18th or when spaces are filled.  This event is open to any 4-H volunteer!  Contact our office if you are interested in volunteering in any way!

NC State Fair: 4-H Entomology Insect Collection

Show off your favorite insect finds at the 4-H Entomology Insect Collection at the North Carolina State Fair! The registration deadline is September 15th and your insect collections are due at the State Fair by Monday, October 11th.

How should you get started?
  1. Go explore! Observe insects around your neighborhood, local park, garden, or forest.
  2. Be sure to ask permission to collect and then capture your six-legged specimens. Collect only one (or two, male and female) of each species for closer study in your collection.
  3. Pin your insects properly using entomology pins (you can find these at science stores like carolina biological or bioquip)
  4. Be sure to correctly identify your insect and include a label with identifying information and location where you caught it. Family and friends can help you collect too!
  5. Register for the state fair by September 15th and bring your collection to the fair by Oct 11th, 2021.
ICYMI: Stanly County Youth Livestock Classic Show

This year's livestock show was a huge success!  We had over 70 youth exhibitors from several different counties.  Congratulations to all of our winners, and good luck to those participating in the upcoming circuit shows!
