Did You Know

that about 30% of single mothers are food insecure? Affording childcare, rent, utilities, and other bills on one income is hard. That is why programs like Double Bucks at Durham County farmer’s markets help families on SNAP, WIC, and other programs get produce at half the price.
Free Summer Meals
Durham Public Schools is providing free meals this summer for all children under 18 at sites around Durham. See image below for more information, including options to find sites via QR code or text message.
SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks:

SUN Bucks is a new summer food assistance program.  It gives families $120 in food benefits per eligible child. Benefits will be issued on current EBT cards or mailed on a new EBT card.  More details are included on the images and here.

FY2025 Ag Economic Development Grant Program
The FY2025 Ag Economic Development Grant Program application period is fast approaching. Durham County schools and farmers are eligible to apply. Please mark your calendars to attend the Grant Training to learn more about the program:

                July 16, 6:00 pm at Farm Bureau (1901 Hillandale Rd)
Your attendance is not required to apply.
Please register here to let us know you are coming. This will be offered in a hybrid format.

Other program dates of importance:
               Today - July 1, 2024 - Applications will be available on our website
               August 23, 2024 at 11:59 pm – Application Deadline
               September 15, 2024 – Notification of Award Status

Briggs Avenue Community Garden Work Days

Learn how to grow food using USDA Organic methods following food safety from the garden to table.

"Briggs Community Garden is an agriculture education space owned by the North Carolina Agriculture Foundation at NCSU. We are an extension program offering applied food and nutrition education with a seed to table approach. We teach families how to grow food for themselves and others using USDA Organic methods following food safety from the garden to the table. 30% of the food we grow is donated to Durham Technical Community College pantry."

We are open for the season! Please come out and see us!

No need to RSVP just come on by! Wear sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.

Need Help Getting Food?
    • SNAP or Food and Nutrition Services (FNS, also known as Food Stamps) may be able to help you. The benefits are given on an EBT card, which works like a debit card. You can use it to buy food at stores that accept EBT cards. Look for signs that say, "We accept SNAP benefits."
