Can I grow a vegetable garden in Durham?
Many foods can be grown at home whether you have a small yard, a balcony, or just a sunny window. The key is to have at least 6 hours of sunlight a day in a spot around your home. In-ground beds can be installed in small yards to grow all kinds of
vegetables. Containers can be used to grow vegetables year-round in our region. Herbs can be easily grown inside the home so long as they get enough sun through a south-facing window. Feel free to visit us at Briggs Community Garden on Friday and Saturday mornings from 8am to 11am to ask for help. |

SUN Bucks is a new summer food assistance program. It gives families $120 in food benefits per eligible child. Benefits will be issued on current EBT cards or mailed on a new EBT card. More details are included on the images and here. |

Learn how to grow food using USDA Organic methods following food safety
from the garden to table.
"Briggs Community Garden is an agriculture education space owned by the North Carolina Agriculture Foundation at NCSU. We are an extension program offering applied food and nutrition education with a seed to table approach. We teach families how to grow food for themselves and others using USDA Organic methods following food safety from the garden to the table. 30% of the food we grow is donated to Durham Technical Community College pantry."
We are open for the season! Please come out and see us!
No need to RSVP just come on by! Wear sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.
