The North Carolina Cattlemen's Conference will be held in Hickory, NC beginning Friday, February 21st through Saturday February 22nd. The theme for this year's conference is "Managing Resources for a Long Life of Farming." One of the featured speakers is Dr. Kim Stackhouse-Lawson, Colorado State University with a focused talk on Sustainability in Beef Production. Dr. Chris Teutsch, University of Kentucky will discuss Optimizing the Use of Existing Forage Resources and other topics will be Bull Selection for Sustained Success and Harvesting a Successful Calf Crop – From Breeding to Newborn Calf Management. It is time again to start ordering your fruit plants and trees! The N.C. Cooperative Extension - Alexander County Center is now taking orders and will until sold out. There are some new items this year as well as some we have offered previous years.
Please know that the earlier you place your order the better chance we will be able to complete your request. Plants will be available for pickup on March 13, 2025.

4-H Club Spotlight: Alexander 4-H Livestock Club meets the 1st Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Alexander County Service Center Their club educational meetings focus on topics related to livestock and how to care for animals, they also include fun activities, such as, line dancing lessons given in January.
